Parents

Throughout WRSD’s rich history, beginning in 1967 when a parent group founded the school, parents of deaf and hard-of-hearing students have played important roles as part of their children's support networks. We continue to recognize the importance of parent involvement to a child's communicational and academic success, so our teachers reach out to their students’ families through phone contact, home visits, progress reports, parent-teacher conferences and, on a daily basis, through communication notebooks.

Part of the culture of WRSD is supporting and engaging parents in the education of their children; therefore, we’ve included several links in this section to help you stay connected to your child’s academic experience at WRSD and introduce you to the services we offer to parents. To the parents of a deaf or hard-of hearing child, we encourage you to be active participants in your child’s educational process.
