Raising and Educating a Deaf Child

American Society for Parents of Deaf Children  - “ASDC was founded in 1967 as a parent-helping-parent network. Today, ASDC is a national, independent non-profit organization.”

National Association of State Directors of Special Education - “For more than 70 years, the National Association of State Directors of Special Education has been providing leadership to improve educational services and outcomes for students
with disabilities throughout the United States, the federal territories and the Freely Associated States of Palau, Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. Aligning policies and practices to improve outcomes for students with disabilities is critical to
ensuring full participation in their education and transition to post-school education, employment and independent living.”

Massachusetts Parent Information and Resource Center - A regional subgroup of
the Federation of Children with Special Needs.

“Established in 1999 as Parents’ PLACE, our goal as the Massachusetts PIRC is
to inform and enable parents to play a key role as partners with schools in
ensuring children’s success in school.

“The Massachusetts PIRC is a place where parents across the state can find information to help them make the best choices for their children’s education.
We also support schools and districts across the state in their efforts to form
strong partnerships with families.”

Special Needs Advocacy Network, Inc. - “For over twenty-five years, the Special Needs Advocacy Network (SPaN) has provided continuing professional development and support for advocates and other professionals in the field of Special Education across Massachusetts. Collaboration exists with other professionals as well as with parents of children with disabilities.

“SPaN started as a grass roots effort by a small number of parents whose mission
to support their own children led them to becoming advocates. This small group of committed pioneers evolved into a growing membership, under a formalized Board
of Directors who continues this spirit and mission today. The dedication and forward thinking of its members, past and present, have combined to establish SPaN as a leader in the field of Special Education Advocacy in Massachusetts.”
